car wont start might be the ignitor....help please
well my car has had trouble starting, seems like there is no spark. And when i rev the rpm's are jumpy and fly back and forth. So then the car didn't start. So i decided to change out the ignitor. That fixed both problems. the car started up perfectly. THE BAD NEWS - this fixed everything for about 1 day. the rpm's went crazy again, and the car wont start anymore.
My question is can it be a short? or should i get a new dizzy. i just don't want to spend the money on a dizzy and have it blow out like the ignitor did.
Thanx in advance for your help. i really need to get my car working again.

does the main relay control the fuel. if so, i do hear my fuel pump when it primes. if that helps at all.

Seems like??? It either does or doesn't. Does it or not? Is it a good strong blue spark or is it weak?

im getting no spark. pulled the sparkplug and tested it towards a ground and im getting no spark. this is the same thing that happened before i replaced the ignitor.

Normally I don't like replacing stuff unless you can test it & it's bad. But maybe it's your coil that's burning up your ignitors?

Do you hava a volt meter, a dwell meter and/or a test light?

UPDATE: so i got a new dizzy. bolted it on, and did checked the timing, which is good. It got rid of the Crazy RPM thing anymore. but im still having trouble starting.
It takes about 4-5 times of priming and turning the key for it to start, and when it does start, it sounds like it is chocking, and is about to die. Sometimes it does die out, when i try to tap on the gas.
any other suggestions?

I went through the same crap as you, except i've got a d16z6.... I don't know if it was related or not, but i changed the ground on my thermostat housing and i've been running good ever since. I'm thinking i may have hit it or something when i was working on the dizzy.
