A/C Compressor noise
hello, I have a 97 Accord Sedan V6 and I have got a high pitched constant whine coming from the A/C Compressor. Is there a lube/spray i can buy to apply on the pulley or is it best that I just replace the A/C compresor? The A/C works great just that loud whine is driving me nuts otherwise it works just fine
you might want to double chk it is coming from the compressor,, i have replaced a few alternators on the v6s for noise that it seems like coming from the compressor ......v6 alternators is a common noise problem .......
Same as on or off.

How can i check that? Swap out a new Altenator to see? (that is cheaper than a compressor)

no no no do not replace any parts till u can verify what the actual problem is ,,,it could be very very costly,, Try this.......remove the belt, the same belt runs the alt and compressor, spin each 1 and se if u can hear which 1 is noisy.......if u cannot pinpoint it, take it to a honda shop it should be at no cost to you for their advice ....

I dont know if you ever fixed that problem but you can also check the clutch gap.....or even the return springs.......if your gap is incorrect you can have noise or if your springs are going out then its not releasing properly.

I have also found it useful and easy to unplug the connector on the alternator with the engine running. Also of times a bad diode in the alternator can cause that type of whining noise, and unplugging the alternator will be like switching it off. Obviously you can't drive around with your alt unplugged, but it can help you pinpoint the noise.
