B18b1 motor add-ons
if you have a reliable shop around you could do everything Scrapin4DR said along with a vtec head and push 200whp easy. From what i've seen it would be a little harder and more money to get the b18b1 up to that whp all motor.
yeah vtec head , i forgot about that, and like BDogggUT34 said find a reliable shop or you can do it yourself up to a certain point , but you have to also tune it nice as i mentioned before to get the most out of that setup and have a reliable ride
dude, just boost, it will be cheaper than swaping a h22 and a lot faster, vtec head, yes its good, but will cost you a little bit, and for a little more than thats gonna cost, you can about get a turbo setup. A good tuned turbo setup can be as reliable as a stock car.
I would definately say just go turbo, all motor with a vtec head could cost close to $1000 after head, pistons, cams, ect.. and you can always make more power with a turbo

yea but with most of that n/a stuff will have to be removed to turbo.

yeah I wasnt saying have both, I was simply stating that is is quite expensive for vtec and all the n/a goodies, and that no matter what you are always going to make more power turbo then n/a

Would anyone have suggestions to make this motor more powerful without use of turbo or nitrous? Im either going all out on this engine, or doing a h22A swap instead for the power.</TD></TR></TABLE>
as you can see he doesn't wanna a turbo, that's why i told him about the n/a stuff..

Just the headers and intake, so he can easilly sell that off. Turbo b18 can be really reliable and put out some awesome #'s with low psi. Just get a good tune and your fine.

we need more info like how much money your trying to spend if your got around a 1000$ then like they said before GO VTEC but if you only want to do like a few bolt ons go with an intake manifold or cam gears or little **** like that or HOOK UP THE BOOST!

Yeah, but hes talking about swapin in a h22, which would cost more than a nice turbo setup..... just dont make sense.

Yeah, thats a good way to make it "feel" faster, the shorter gears help out

im currently in his boat. I would like to turbo, but unless you spend a bit of money to get a quality method for tuning your car wont be to reliable. For a good turbo set up your looking at least at 1000-1500 if you build it over the winter. I think if he's in a hurry to make some power and does not want to go turbo he should get cams, skip the vtec head, and then do pistons, and upgrade the valve train, and get it port and polished

i agree, but let me be the first to say DO NOT RUSH IT! Be patient, get quality parts, and do it once!

-IMO, you already have an LS (dont swap again).
You'll be like the rest of us LS guys... torn between NA & Turbo.
Either go lsvtec w/ high compression pistons (throwing money into your LS head is a waste IMO). Or go turbo. Both make decent power and cost roughly the same. Deciding between the two is like deciding between Snickers and Butterfingers.... damn-near impossible. personal tastes.

ive never tried the other trannys(GSR or LS) but if i was gonna buy another tranny i would try the GSR. i have the B16 tranny and its short. I like it, but on the highway im at about 4grand at 70mph. its not like its using much gas but, people i know go on high way runs and if i was gonna go with them 100mph would be right around 6 grand and as for the vtec head, ive done little research and if you dont have a machine shop do it your gonna have problems
a good, reliable lsvtec setup can cost as much or more than a good reliable turbo setup, so to each his own, but the turbo can have higher gains, but whatever, ive seen some sick lsvtexc setups, but they cost hella $$$

Oh yeah, no doubt. There are alot of variables that can effect cost/ reliablity etc...
I wasn't downing one setup or the other.... I was an NA fan my entire life. But since seeing the numbers being put down by the turbo/ls guys.... I'm really having trouble deciding what to do. I love having the freedom to choose... but it's just so hard!!
I'll probably buy another hatch and just build one of each
