UR views on IDRC?
Just want some people thoughts and view thats all.
Where is it heading? Is there going to be more event next year?
I was a big fan of IDRC then but this year there seem to be more excitement on NHRA & NDRA.
My friends and i are debating how event changing and pro racer participating...
I feel like the ol school idrc were alot better even though the drag cars was slow like 11 sec-13 sec back then...etc.... and today it seem like a regular test and tune nite i dont know maybe its just me.
I hope it will be alot better next year. Gosh where all the big sponsors ? They need to drop some big $ to help our events....

IDRC does a great job in holding events. I know they don't attract the same Pro Racers like NHRA or NDRA, but they do meet the needs of the Grassroot to Aspiring Pro Racers.
I encourage IDRC to stick around. As much as I look forward to going to NHRA events, I value the efforts and the attention they give to every class of racers.
IDRC is the last true "for the racers" series.
While the staff may not be a staff or 20+ people, you can tell that they are racers themselves wanting to do this for fellow racers.

IDRC has been around for a long time even before NHRA and NDRA. To bad they never got a big name sponsor to help promote there events. They have always looked out for the grassroots racers, for that they will always have the support from the little guys that race. The problem is no one wants to watch the little guys race. Poor attendance will not help them keep afloat. We need to get out and support IDRC cuz there the ones who ll change rules for the racers and not for corporate money.
for IDRC stay alive.

I used to race idrc and won 3 championships. I like the way they set the rules up etc. but don't forget that they screwed a lot of the racers including me and is probably one of the biggest reasons they are not doing well. I wish they would come back strong pay off there debts and start fresh.
I still have never been paid in full and I am sure I will never see another dime. We are not talking a few thousand either.

I have always liked the IDRC. I have been a member since the summer or like 1998 when it started. That's back when Dave Shih and Adam (Nitto RX-7) sta on the board. They were running a 13 event schedule for a while there. These last 2 years, they have only averaged about 6. Rumor has it that there will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 alone on the west coast next season. That is going to be great for us if it happens, and I for one hope it does.
There are other series out there that have kind of lost their "luster" as well. When you have these bigger promoters NHRA/NDRA they can bring A LOT more to the table for sponsors and/or potential sponsors then IDRC or even BOTI that matter. But I think you can look at some of the NHRA events, as I have seen someof those numbers down as compared to a couple seasons ago. I think that is a result of taking your primary concern (racers and spectators who eventually become racers), and put them further down the chain of importance. They sometimes feel that they can get by on their name alone, and everyone should just be happy. Fact is, the guys who started this for us, and even the new guys in it now don't like to settle for just that. Remember something that almost everyone is in this sport becasue they love it. The original trendsetters dealt with a lot more heat from naysayers then the current crop of Pro-Am drivers. People saying that these FWD cars could never go past 12 seconds in the quarter mile, and that there was no way they would ever go 10's.
IDRC still has and maintains that "Racer" feel to it's events. Dollar for dollar the payouts for winning the Pro-Am FWD class are better then the Sport FWD. NHRA just has more contengincy sponsors, so that will bolster their payout to you.
I have to get to work now, if I think of anything else I will post it later.

If IDRC wants to survive they better have a west coast series. There are plenty of tracks that have been suggested in other threads(palmdale, famoso, fontana, infineon, las vegas, arizona, woodburn, kent, and sacramento). I know some of those tracks they may not be able to afford, but im sure if they can get half of them. Its sad to see IDRC go from 13 events 3 yearsago to 6 races with poor attendance in 2004, 2005, and who knows what 2006 will look like. I honestly feel that IDRC/BOTI should combine, work out their differences managerial-wise and form a third super series to give better racing for the racers and fans..

Most of us on here are the racers that support the events so, I can see why. Hell, Shep's on here and he doesn't even drive a Honda
