b16 swap

Default b16 swap

would it be cheaper to buy a b16 engine only then buy the other parts to make the swap complete or to just buy the complete swap its goin into a 97 civic coupe. gottta get rid of the y7. if anyone took this route let me know if u saved money at all or lost?

It all depends on YOU. Or better-yet, your area.
Some (like myself) know alot of people locally and piecing-together a swap can be done in a couple of hours for a decent price. Some people can't source a long-block in a week, b/c the parts just aren't around.

If i could do it again, i'd get the parts individually, so I could build the swap I wanted the first time. I'd get the block I wanted (b18c), the head I wanted (b16), the tranny I wanted (b18c w/lsd) and the ecu i wanted (p28). Instead-of buying a complete swap, and then switching-out each part one-by-one.... and loosing money in the end.

i dont wanna spend my money all in one place i dont mind just getting the b16 engine then searching for what else i need i dont have all the money right now but wanna start somehwre. just dont know if it i will lose money in the long run if i dont get the complete swap. ill be putting in the motor myself

even if you could piece all the parts together and save a little cash, i don't think it's worth it at all. Almost all places that sell full swaps include some sort of start up guarantee and sometimes even a waranty that lasts a month or two. If you buy each part from a different seller, you're just setting yourself up for a huge headache. Especially if you get some bad parts.
