Is there any tig's that can run off 120 and do aluminum?
well im just looking around and I dont have acces to a 220 outlet so im kinda stuck as to getting a 120 one. Just curious if there are any half decent ones
Miller Dynasty 200 can accept almost anything! I hooked mine up to 220. There are graphs in the owners manual that show the differences in amerage output when using the various voltages. 110 only struggles at high amperage in AC if I remember correctly.
The good thing is that if you ever move and get a 220 hookup it won't be a problem

get the Dynasty 200. the guys i am working with have 3 or 4 of them and they are awesome. they are so small and portable. i am working at the Dairy Farmers and they are doing all their stainless pipes. i wish i would have known how small they were when i bought my Syncrowave 180 cause i would have a Dynasty instead
The 200dx can do aluminum off 120 but it doesn't work that great. I tried 1/16 and 1/8 thick 6061 and it works but there is a definate diffrence on 220 you just hit the pedal and you get the puddle. But on the 120 at the same amp setting you hit the pedal and you have to wait.
Oh and the 200dx on 120 will blow 15a fuses tring to do alu on 100+ amps.
You can do steel and ss all day though on 120
But yes there is a big diff on the 220...welds much cleaner...definately more power.

Its not too hard to go 220...I wired up my old garage myself and it was my first time doing anything electrical....before that i just would unplug the washer/dryer and run it off that.

I run the dynasty off the dryer

More and it only weighs about 45lbs BUT there are features on the dynasty you'd probaly never use. But if you are buying it thinking you'd be able to do lots of aluminum on 120 I would think about just wireing for 220

It can weld the same material, but not the thickness.

I would do mine, but there is a huge pool in the way, plus I'd rather leave that electrical work up to the pros, its not like a car where if you mess something up, the car won't start or run right. If something goes wrong with the house wiring, lives are at risk.
