CV Joint Replacement
I need a new CV joint I am starting to get the clicking up front should I replace it myself or should I take it to the shop?
I am pretty mechanically inclined, I have done all of the work on my car. I have never had to replace a CV joint before. Is it hard to do?

It would be cheaper to get an aftermarket remanned axle than to by just the joint. The obsticals in replacing it is knocking the lower ball joint loose with a big hammer (this and suspension bolts can be tricky if you're in an area where rust is an issue) and prying the axle from the tranny with a big pry bar. If you think you can handle that, then go for it!
If your axle nut is rusted your gonna have a hard time....
DONT buy a remanufactured axle. My 1st one clicked and the warranty replacement clicks as well. Do it right the 1st time and replace with a new one.

i have put on many of cv's. the best trick is to get some alum wire from Home depot and make a loop with it between the cv knuckle and tranny. make the loop very tight but leave extra wire, cause that extra wire u will need to wrap it around a pry bar. then give it 1 sold tug and off the cv comes. so much easier than trying to pry off with just a pry bar.
