Default burning oil & good compression

burning oil & good compression is it possible that the the piston oil rings can go
bad but the compression rings stay fine mine is about 230 psi on all 4

the problem is my car is using 1 litre of oil in 500 miles the cylinder head was rebuilt 12 months ago so the valve seals should be good

u can have prefect compression numbers and have bad rings. As long as it doesnt smoke on cold start ups, then its not valve seals.

most likely your oil control rings are shot, or you have bad valve seals... or you are leaking a ton of oil somewhere (but i'm sure you would notice that).

to be sure if it is infact your rings or valve seals you should also do a leak down test. what were your compression numbers?

usually the car will smoke when you first start it up if the valve seals are bad. easier to replace than the rings of course.

only way to be sure is do leakdown test.
