Depending on where you live and how well you can fab, a hydro tranny could be better. All the SI trannies around here are either tired, dx's in disquise, overpriced, and - cable. I just hate cable, or at the very least, the cable tranny that came in my car.

I would imagine that you could bend the del sol's lines to fit, but you might have to remove a lot of stuff to test fit. As for the pedals, if you can line them up, anythings possible. Personally I'm going to make tranny mounts in a jig, mount a prelude clutch cyl to my stock pedal (on the inside, basicly reverse of how an EG has it's cyl), and make up my own lines. I won't be attemting this until I get a clean shell from down south.

It's not the lines that's the hard part. The tranny mounts are different.

I also thought about doing this since i had a few z6 trannies laying around...but i managed to pick up an SI tranny locally. I'd like to see what you end up doing, so post up what you find

look at how the rear mount attaches to the TOP of the cable tranny...........now you see why it is not CHEAP to install.

Pulling the engine or dropping the subframe to custom fab a mount just to save $100 on a tranny.............

Spend a dollar to save a penny.

I absolutely agree with you that it's easier and at this time cheaper, but what are we gonna do in another few years? SI trannies that don't need to be rebuilt could become scarce. If somebody made this work, it would be a great alternative.

the 92-95 trannys are seeing the same abuse.........

For $250 you can rebuild your tranny, the knowledged gained is priceless.

Besides, in the 100 plus trannys I've worked on, I've NEVER had to replace all the bearings.

Just get a bearing kit from gear-speed, nailed mine for $110 shipped, check synchros, replace 1-2 shifter fork.
