slight scuff marks on a piston, salvagable?
a buddy of mine has a complete R short block for sale for pretty cheap, but it has a couple dings on 2 of the pistons. the dings are very small, not much bigger than the stampings that come on the pistons from the factory. if those scuff marks are buffed out to prevent any hot spots on the piston, you think it will be ok for use? It seriously looks like you could buff the marks off with a fine grain sand paper or a dremel and it probably wouldnt effect the piston weight or throw off the balance of the crankshaft. I wanna build another motor and this looks like a decent opportunity to save a few bucks. otherwise it appears in good shape. I have some pics but dont have them uploaded yet and the camera isnt the best quality anyway so its hard to see the marks clearly.
