Piston damage? Repairable?
Bought these today not knowing what the hell to look for.
Anyways, someone told me the piston smacked the head, but then was told this is not the case. I was told I could bring these to a machine shop and they could grind them down to make em flush.
The guy I bought them from said they ran fine in his car, but I think the piston was dropped or something after being removed from the motor.
What do you guys think? These are CP pistons.

If you got them dirt cheap take some sand paper to the edge. That part of the piston doesn't touch the bore at all.
I would still take them to have balanced after too.
What do the skirts look like?

totally repairable. but you definitely want to have a machine shop measure the skirts to make sure they're still at decent spec and whatnot

I had a similar experience when the movers dropped the forged pistons for my VG30DETT, I packed them like fine china but 2 or 3 have dents around the crown of the piston, they push up and in towards the head, not towards the cylinder wall
I'm going to see if I can lightly sand them down, wet sand them, then polish out what little is left, at least that's the plan

Edit : anyone interested in these pistons with manley rods? Stock compression for a LS head. H beam manley rods. 5k miles, $520 shipped! I decided to keep my current block with the scratches on the cylinder. I Was talked into keep driving it.
