On a b18b, can you change the rod bolts by removing the oil pan and opertaion from underneath???

the stock rod bolts are pressed into the rods........even if you take the pan off there is no way you can remove the rod bolts.

you have to pull the head off and push the pistons and rods out and have a machine shop press the old bolts out and press the new ones in.

that doesn't sound right. You woul dhave to remove the crank and its entirety then and pull it out from the bottom thus not having to remove the head. If you say the LS rod bolts are pressed in then you cant PUSH the rods/pistons out the top.

I hydro-locked my B18A1 and one of the rods was bent. I pulled the head and dropped the pan, leaving the crank in place and pushed the rod/piston combo up and out. Took to machine shop to swap the piston to a new rod, replaced and 30K miles later, all is well. No need to pull the crank. Good luck to you.

huh? the bolts are pressed in, not the nuts. you take off the nuts and rod caps, and then push them out throught the top.
