Default CAn and Should i boost?

I have a 1992 Accord LX. It has about 92xxx miles on it. do you think i should boost? I was thinking a smaller turbo to spool up quickly. Is my engine too old? should i build the engine first? I have the F22A1 engine which is a 8:8:1 compression ratio and that sounds perfect for a turbo. the only thing im worried about is the age of my engine... ? HELP

From the research i've done that seems to be a good engine to boost. Your mileage is low and as long as your engine is in good shape a little boost with good tuning shouldn't be too much of a problem.

there isnt anything wrong with my engine. i just wanted to know if i needed to build my engine before boosting. ie. cams, pistons rods...?

Some people would advocate massaging the bottom end if you boost, but I've heard of many success stories with limited boost installations with no modifications at all. 92,000 is low milage for your year vehicle. A wet / dry compression test would give an indicator of your engines health.

over 131k miles here. been boosted for 14k miles and counting. 92k is young. however it could still blow. you just have to know that there really is no gaurantees. the stock block can take boost but if you have the money building it is a good idea.

or should i just say screw it and use the $4000+ that i was planning on spending on the turbo and parts and just buy a nice bike. Gas is killing me and a bike would be a helluvalot faster...

can you boost? sure. should you? well, the real question is: can you afford it? not just the initial cost of components, but you have to factor in tuning, and potential downtime due to breaking ****. Do you have another vehicle for when your car isn't working? are you mechanically inclined and able to fix things that WILL break?

a stock sport bike is faster than your accord realistically will ever be, but you do have to factor in experience and risk factor. have you ridden before?

I just had my bike stolen this past spring (modded zx9) - I've been riding for 10+ years now, and I'm pretty much done with street riding. there are too many ******* idiots in cars now to worry about. it is fun as hell tho, and now I'm looking at on/off road motorcycles, mostly for off road use but maybe some street...

it's really up to you, but if you don't have another car, mechanical ability, and a bunch of money to blow, you might not want to boost... my $0.02.

wow. got a little carried away there with the reply. LOL

Yes i have the mechanical ability to fix things, no i dont have another car, and no i dont have loads of money to blow. However, if my car were down for an extended period of time, my school and my work place are within Biking distance. so thats not a huge problem. Although it would be a pain in the *** to have to revert back to biking... As for the MOTOR bike: No ive never riden but you have to start somewhere right? I wasnt planning on buying an r1 or anything, just something thats good on gas and has the punch along with it. But anyways your $0.02 is very much appreciated. Oh yea and i will be doing the compression test
