V-tec solenoid question
are the solenoids from a 97 Ex ( d16y8 ) and a 97 GS-R ( b18c ) the same? My mechanic is saying that the solenoid from my car wont work on my JDM b18c because the bolt holes are different. I want to see if anyone who has actually done a swap can tell me.....

You need to get a b series one
You can plug the vtec soleniod that you have but you need to extend the wire and you need to use a jdm gsr ecu so you won't throw any codes

are you going to use the jdm ecu? i don't know if it is the same but i swapped a 2000 itr motor into my 99si recently and there was no need to add the solenoid as long as i used the jdm ecu because the programming for the jdm ecu doesn't use this solenoid. i think yours would be the same? I did a search for the same question and found a ton of info. good luck witht the swap.
yes, the vtes solinoid off a d16 will bolt up to a b16/18....some say it has less oil pres and vtec doesnt fell as stong but i think thats b.s. vtec is on, or off there is no in between, so i dont see an issue with using it
