This is the EX/SI tranny. It has the shortest gears from any USDM D series tranny. Shorter gears = faster acceleration.
Search under "gear ratios" and you'll find the gear ratios for all D series trannies so you can see.
Any D series tranny is a direct bolt in to your B7.
I wouldn't worry about a new lightweight flywheel if you don't plan on modding this motor. If you do plan on modding this motor, then I guess you could get one. Look into Fidanza, Exedy...I dunno. Most if not all clutch companies make flywheels.
Replace your throwout bearing as well.
****, might as well get a new clutch since you're going to have a completely evenly surfaced flywheel, and mating a worn down clutch to that isn't the best idea.

It came in both models, and yes, it has shorter gear ratios than your b7. I personally prefer the d16y8 tranny, it has the same ratios as the z6, along with a sturdy steel shift fork (versus the z6 aluminum fork). As for a flywheel, I'm happy with my ACT kit I got from Prostreet, check them out in the Sponsors marketplace
.
Edit: Litterbox beat me to it

Looks good. I have a 10.25lb flywheel and the rpms move quickly. You will need to give it a little more gas then release teh clutch to get the car moving without stalling. It's totally driveable and it's FUN. I'd go lighter. I'd get the 8.8lb
my motor plans are:
ACT prolite 8.8lbs. fylwheel
del sol Si/D16y8 transmission
ZEX 59300 cam
DC sports 4-1 header
AEM short ram intake
Buddy club grounding kit
OEM head gasket
custom 2 inch exhaust
-now what im wondering is what intake manifold and maybe what throttle body should i get to add that little bit more hp.

when looking for the ex/si tranny (practically the exact same gear ratio) above the check plug there's a little stamped circle and inside it should read b000 if its an ex/si tranny. the cx/dx/vx trannies read a000. just thought i'd mention this so you don't get scammed on a tranny.

You would have to do a mini-me or swap out to a d16z6 or japanese d15b to utilize that specific camshaft
