cylinder head removal B18a
no need to remove all that stuff. just unplug the tps, map, iacv plugs and the evap plug if its mountedo n the IM. remove the coolant hoses from the IACV, and all from the head along with the two plugs right under the dizzy. remove a few other things like the dizzy, loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt, slip belt off cam gears, unbolt cam caps, remove cams, unbolt head studs and pull the head off. with the IM still on it should be easier to pull the head off. oh yea, if this is the first time u r pulling the head off, ur gonna need to remove the bracket hold n the IM to the block. its kinda tricky to get it out but its doable. when u install everything back on, make sure to throw that bracket away!!!!

i allready have the helms manual. It's says that i have to remove the IM and i wanted to double check.
Do I have to drain the coolent out also?

By asking this question, I suggest you take it to a mechanic.

no you dont need to drain the coolant...if your car has been sitting long enough there wouldnt be any pressure in your upper hose to cause coolant to spray out

Pressure is not the issue. You don't want to make more of a mess with residual coolant getting all over the place. Drain it all, then you'll be doing on your terms instead of when you crack open the engine and it all pours out...

I am happy to say that everything has worked out good. Everything is up and running and yes this is my FIRST time doing a head gasket change it was intimidating at first but when you look at everything and remember where all the bolts goes it was fairly easy to complete this task... Thanks for all the.
