Is it possible to remove smog/emissions equipment?
Hey all,
I'm really new here and I'm going to be getting a 92 GSR this weekend as my new project car. I'll be trading my 85 Rx-7 for it. I am wanting to know if it is possible to remove the smog and/or emissions equipment on the B17 engine in the GSR. We don't have emissions testing in my state so I'm wanting to really clean up the engine bay, and remove all the unecessary items. I'm hoping to have only the BARE essentials in there when I finish, to really make the engine bay look nice. I'm thinking about de-looming it also, and hiding all the wiring if possible. I'm not sure how feasible this would be to do on a fuel injected Honda engine, since I don't have any experience with them yet. What type of things can be taken out to clean up the engine appearance? Do you guys have any writeups posted online? I searched around but didn't come up with much....
I removed all the emissions equipment on the ol' Rx-7 and it really simplified things. It was an older car, and carbureted as well so it made for a much easier task. But the engine bay looked much nicer when I finished. It really cleaned up the appearance.
Let me know if you have any advice on this topic. Thanks everyone...

That guy is doing a full wire tuck/engine rebuild write up, might be helpful for you, it's a huge thread.

there is no real emissions equipment to remove in the engine compartment. That engine (along with all B DOHCVTEC's) don't have EGR, no pumps of any sort. Just the catalytic convertor, but as you know that's under the car.
Awesome. Thanks for the find. That's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. If anyone else has any emissions removal links or advice please lemme know...
