If you have a cat and no codes showing, you will pass.

Yes here in Poughkeepsie we do have Emissions testing. My freind failed last week at Valvoline for check engine light because of his MAF giving a code b/c of his CAI.

You may want to try some of the EP forums.

That is not emissions testing, there is no "sniffer" that takes readings from the exhaust.
There is a difference between emissions testing and just checking the ECU for any CEL lights or codes.
It has always been a part of an inspection here to look for a cat.

the ecu checking is emmissions for upstate NY the tailpipe sniffer is for downstate. they are both emmisions. if a cell is present the car will fail to pass emmisions. im not tryin to start a fight i just am a registered inspecter and i am trying to get my question answered by someone who has done this kit on a ep3
