Default Valve Clearances on n/a build

Ok i put clay in the reliefs to check my clearances and I wound up not needing to because the exhaust valves just smash right into the piston. When I took the head off it was as though the valves had scraped the side of the relief before falling into place. My setup is a h23a1 with h22a1 pistons, eagle rods, .25mm oversized ss valves,Crower stage2 cams and the head was milled .040 thousands. My question is what can I do to get my exhaust valves to have enough clearance?

You can carefully dremmel the valve reliefs by hand. I have seen similar setups (except the mill; and btw 0.001 is one thousandth of an inch, so 0.040 thousandths would be 0.00004 inches, which is not much. This is like people saying "that's my 0.02 cents."). The LS-VTEC and CR-VTEC guys do this a lot to get clearance for the larger valves in the VTEC heads, so you can search there and get some tips. Here is a little info on doing it for the H22:

What is your piston-to-head clearance? There has been some debate on H22 pistons in H23 blocks, and your measurement would help. Also, how are you using H22A1 pistons with eagle rods? (what is holding the wristpin in place?) Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Edit: I don't see H23 rods from Eagle anywhere. Are you using H22 crank? If you are using a H23 crank with H22 rods and pistons then I think you may have bigger problems than valve clearance...

Thank you for the advice, sorry I mis-typed about the rods someone was talking in my ear.
The rods: http://www.crower.com/cgi-bin/...47B-4 And I ment .004 not .004thousanths. I will take some pictures and measurements for the cause. Also what should I do about my timing? Should I advance the timing for the milling or just leave it alone, because this would further help my clearance problems corretct?
