SO basicly ull have an bored out ctr motor, which means you would have a high rod ratio which is great for mid and top end power. long rod ratios kinda kill bottom end torq but ur bored out so that will make up ur bottom end torqe a little. i would suggest you match that motor combo with a short geared tranny for example b16,itr,ctr thats if your car is hydro, if its cable then a y1,j1 tranny would be a good choice

also just wondering...

at what point would flame/spark travel be an issue?

i mean, i know some motors (non-honda), have problems in delivering spark towards the end of the piston due to the small window of time...

77 X 86 bore is a 1788cc and it will put the whup on any 1.8 you can find. With the B16B crank and rods you can twist that deal 10,000 easily. What you should do is bore a B16A to 86mm and use the shorter rod.read the new D sport its in there about short rods.

damn that 77x86 sounds secksy. i just pulled out my b16a2 with 81.25 ctr slugs - are you telling me i can bore this all the way to 86mm????? i assume i would then have to sleeve it. what about rods? what are the options?

i have to rebuild this again anyway, may as well go big or go home. where can i find the biggest pistons for a b16 (who makes/sells them) and how to i properly prepare the block to handle it (sleeve/girdle/what)?

good topic

November 2005 issue in case anyone is having trouble. It has a full dyno test and writeup for long rod vs. short rod. - I won't spoil the surprise on who wins.
