My Experiment - Bypassing the security code when changing out car battery.
I have a 92’ Accord EX-R which needs a new battery ASAP!
I do not have the security code and I do not want to rip out the factory deck just to get the serial number.
I plan on attempting an experiment tonight and I’m hoping that the experiment is a complete success.
A car battery puts out approx 12.6 volts, so I figure that if I can keep the same voltage running to the car when I switch out the battery; that I should not have to worry about the factory deck requiring a code.
I did some testing with a solar panel last night and determined that the solar panel puts out 16.5 volts when a 500 watt flood light is shining onto it.
My plan is to attach the solar panel to the car via cigarette lighter, shine the 500 watt flood light onto the panel and then switch out the old battery with new one. My biggest concern is the amperage from the solar panel…
Any predictions???
I will have the actual results tonight or tomorrow.

A 9volt battery plugged into the cigarette lighter will do the trick. Or if you have someone to help, a battery charger left connected to the cables while the battery is being changed works well.

Wouldn't a lazy *** take the easier route?!

a lazy *** wouldn't take the time to figure out how to keep his car powered without a battery, they would get the code which is easier
YO GUYS I WILL GIVE U A TIP,,,,,,,,,,,,,,start the car up and replace battery while car is running,, i guarantee u will not lose the radio code and no harm will come to anything because of it,,,,,,,,i have done it many many times ........remove battery holders, have new battery next to you, disconnect cables and install new battery , hook up cables no more than 1 minute job.......

some honda dealers charge you, quick and easy

uh yeah do what deserthonda said, dont you think that makes the most sense? if your still in the mood for a challenge i think the solar panel is very original idea.kinda dumb though, why would want to risk any thing going wrong? if you dont do what deserthonda says, in the end you might just have to go get the code
good luck
