Default rebuild didnt start - weird stuff

NEW PROBLEM!!!

ok, turns out the timing was off becase the timing belt kept sliping off the intake cam... fixed.

now im having electrical problems... i got spark, i got fuel, and i got compression. almost every other time i put the key in, the CEL comes on. and it will flicker, then become dim as hell. so i change the battery, now something clicks under the dash when it cranks. CEL dimmes in and out.

some suggested a short, or an arc between something. bad grounds??

i got on on the valve cover, the tranny to the body, and the battery ground... am i missing one? i took out the fuse box during the swap, is there a ground behind that or something?

its been months since i drove this car, i miss it.... help me out honda-tech

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok i rebuilt my jdm ITR with new bearings, new piston rings, put in some cams, springs retainers, etc. im sure i got my timing right but im gonna double check that later today....

anyways, it doesnt start. i checked my fuel and spark, good. i go to do a compression test, and the compression tester gauge reads zero... the weird part is, there is a "THUNK" or "'PHOONK" coming from the intake manifold. this noise repeats everytime the motor cranks over....

i took off the IM and i didnt see anything out of the ordinary... gonna double check my timing today.... anyone know wtf is going on?

im clueless....

The compression pressure gauge shouldn't read zero. Even with a fresh motor, it should never read zero. Double check if the gauge is in working order.

When you mentioned a "Thunk/Phoonk" sound, did you hook up your firing order correctly?

Sounds like your crank and cams are out of phase.

same thing happened when i got my fresh head back from JG. I bolted it on and scratched my head for days cuz it wouldnt start! Comp test = 0 compression in all 4, so valve adjustment and it was back up to 170(sohc). But my coil was also shot so that made it take even longer.

Check cam marks at TDC, adj. valves. Engine stuff 101.

Basic steps.

*Check crank at TDC
*Check cam sprokets at TDC
*Rotate the crank counterclockwise 2 revolutions, cam sprokets should maintain their TDC aligment.
*Check that you have the wireing correct. Are the TPS and MAP clips on the correct sensor? (same clips, read differently).
*Check fuses, relays. If you removed the fusebox, one of these may have become loose, or broke.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If so, what is your pressure when you prime the car.

Check that the ECU you are using works.

Check that you are getting spark out of the sparkplug wires (arc them to a chassis bolt).

Start there, come back after you do those.

cold time the motor....adjust the valves and check the firing order .then make sure you have fuel spark and compression. she will start right up trust me.
