Default Dizzy?? or umm... help!

Watsup errbody... ok i have a 94 integra ls. Today i just got finished with replacing the headgasket on my engine... new gaskets seals.

I made sure the timing belt was adjusted correctly, but when i started the car it sounded like its trying hard to start but cant. I checked over and over when putting everything together and torqued everything to specs... all hoses and sensors connected correctly.

I checked my battery and it was pretty much dead so we tried jumpin it with the truck... nothing.
when i turn key in ignition I hear clicking near my dizzy and was thinking of whether or not it would prevent my car from starting if the dizzy somehow turned when i removed it from the engine....

Im going to check everything tomorrow so my battery can charge, but yea...

Any info would be greatly appreciated...
thanks in advance.

i vote timing.. if you didn't take the dizzy off and the timing gear is correct then the dizzy can't move..

It seems that a lot of people who have issues after having the head off and reinstalling the timing belt want to look elsewhere for the cause of the problem. Most of the time it turns out something with the timing was done incorrectly.

yea, i figured it was the timing considering i constantly checked everything during reassebling the engine.
The cam gears had the arrows pointing straight up and i made sure the line on the one tooth on each gear faced each other and put timing belt on.

I do believe that since you have to remove the distributor from the engine, that my timing got f***** up.

How do you adjust the timing of the dizzy when CAR WONT START??
hellpppp :'(

cam gear arrows can be facing up but what about your tdc mark on the crank pulley?

Assuming everything else is right, if you set the dizzy in the middle of it's adjustment range the car will start.

there are a couple sensors near the intake manifold that, if reversed, will cause this problem. happened to me ... check and recheck the sensors. The 2 will plug into each other but won't let your car start.

pissed me off / relieved me when I found the issue on mine haha good luck!

How did you tension the Timing belt? If you don't follow exactly what the Helms manual says, the belt can be off a tooth or more within the first few rotations of the engine.

The MAP and TPS sensor share the same connector. This may be your problem as well. Also be sure the Oil Pressure Sensor is hooked up, the car will not start at all with this disconnected.

i tensioned the timing belt by getting to the adjust bolt which had a rubber plug on it...
a friend of mine said he accidentally turned crank w/0 belt on so the cam gears are correct, but crank pulley off timing...

Ive read about timing but wanted some more info or advice from all of you...

I know my cam gears are good, but crank pulley need adjusting...
I know theres a mark on the timing belt cover to match up to, but on the crank pulley itself what am i looking for? (marking wise)
I know theres a White mark for TDC and i believe some RED markings as well.

Since car WONT start, what am i trying to match up to the mark on timing belt cover?? The White... the Red... or both markings??

Also, in order to see these marks, do i need the belts off pulley??

Thanks again everyone, im just trying to save another teggy from sittin in a driveway..... and also some money
