Is it bad to leave car running in d3 for 25 minutes?

Default Is it bad to leave car running in d3 for 25 minutes?

I was at the bank today and had to wait like 25 min in line at the drive thru and its hot outside! Is it ok to leave car running like this? I was jus sitting their with my foot on the brake.

How in the world will your car explode if it is left in D3. I use D3 all the time when driving in the city where speeds don't exceed 35 mph. D4 is used when cruising at any other higher speed than 35.

it won't be any different at all than being in d4 at that point, either way you'll be in first gear. my civic is auto, and i'm used to the 5spd in my accord, so i use neutral and ebrake like a manual when i'm sitting in line and things like that
