h22 or built LS turbo in my 92 teg?
I've got a 92 teg, its not my daily so it will be built up slowly. Now I'm trying to decide between an H22 w/ all bolt ons, or to build an LS motor and boost it. I bought this as a shell so I don't have a motor or tranny to begin with. I'm not looking for a shitload of power, but more importantly I want it to be mainly reliable. This will be beat on pretty regularly, and raced every weekend almost. If I boost the LS I'd only want 300hp, with the h22 200hp would be fine.
So which could be done for less? I know with the h22 its more intially to buy plus the mounts and axles and ****, but for an LS i have to buy it, tear it down, stuff it with new ****, and then build a custom turbo kit for it even though it would drop in the car no problem.
What would you guys do? And would an h22 w/ bolt-ons and DR's hit 12's in a teg, or low 13's?
Thanks
Matt

but the guy said he also wanted only 200 whp out of the h22. I/H/E cams and tune would out you with 200+ at the wheels... if it didnt then get the SAFC and tunr that...along with a vtec controller. those should set you over 200 WHP. but boost the LS
Build up and LS and Boost it
300whp should'nt be that hard to achieve. The H22 idea is cool, but stick with the LS for more potential. I know everyone is saying "aay yo, get a K20 yo cuz it is da future man" Well the fact of the matter is that **** is way too expensive right now, for me it is anyway. So since you say the shell is not a 'daily driver' I would go LS-T. Start w/internals, a light p&p, a 3 angle valve job, etc....and boost it dude. I think you will be satisfied. Tuning will be the key in the end
Remember a good tune alright?

i've helped put a H22 in a DA before.. not easy by any means.. you have to build your own nounts, modify the cross member, modify wiring (we had a JDM H22)
