Turbo a B18B or Get an H22?
Hey people I need your help, I'm going freakin nuts cause I don't know what to do. I have a B18B in my EG right now, and its way too slow for me now, and I got a good deal on a shell and an H22. My dilema is should I boost my LS or sell it and get the new hatch with the H22? I have spent allot of money on my car and I don't really want to sell it, cause I wont get anything back for it. But my LS is to slow. So the question comes down to Boosted LS or H22?

Turbo is full of hidden costs, but if you're willing to spend the money will spank a stock H22A swap. Stoopid expensive though.
I'd go with the H22.
I'd go with the H22.

not really. your all wrong. to boost the hell outta something, you gotta build it. and that goes for any motor... and as far as h22 being too heavy and suspention will suck is a stoopid myth. sure its only about 70lbs heavier... but it makes up for it in torque. so get your facts straight

Put it this way......
I used to have a turbo B20 setup (Drag 3 ITR kit, GSR tranny, JDM B20B high comp motor, etc...... ran 6 or 11 psi daily and it was very fast.... ran a best of 11.6 @ 119 mph at the track). I eventually got bored and went H22 (Hotshot 4-1 race header, Spoon ECU, LSD tranny) and ran a best of 12.6 @ 108 mph all motor, and 11.5 @ 118 mph with a 100 shot of NOS (I had to do quite a few runs to get those times.... traction is the key). Of course the turbo B20 was much faster on the top end but the H22 was very fun to drive around town with and on the freeway when passing.
Now I have both.... another H22A Civic hatch and a turbo LS in my Integra. But when you ask which is better, both are very fun to drive but I get bored of one setup after awhile pretty easily (maybe that's just me ) but just realize what is needed for a H22 install (INFO HERE) and think about what you really want to do and if you really want to get rid of your turbo LS setup.

I'm leaning towards the H22, because a) I drive allot daily, so a turbo for me would be a hassle and danger b) H22 will be cheaper c) I want vtec lol!

theres so many factors at play with this. An h22 isn't too much heavier (what is it like 80 lbs or something?) but its more that if you've ever seen the swap in a civic, you notice it sits wayy forward in the engine bay, so most of the weight is directly above and in front of the front axel. one word- UNDERSTEER.
I'd go with the b18...put it in NA, do your basic bolt ons and tranny upgrades and see how you like it. Having a crazy turbo is fun as hell, but lets admit it, not very practical or economical.
You just gotta decide what you want to do with the car and how much loot you are comfortable throwing down, after you figure that out, the choice is easy. Good luck!

I want to see pictures of a mount kit (well I know of one specific company that does) that places the H22 motor way forward like you say. On the H22 mount kits that we use, the motor is placed as far back as possible, providing for the least amount of angle on the axle joints and still providing for proper oil pickup as the stock "tilt level" of the motor is still being retained. With the motor leaning back (as it should), it places more weight towards the firewall, thus making steering much easier compared to a B-series motor that tilts forward, putting more weight in the front. My old EG H22 hatch and my current EK H22 hatch both steer with ease, both do not understeer, and one has seen the road race course and the other will see it soon. With good struts & springs, the H22 Civic handles just fine around the turns.... lots of torque so you can leave the car in 3rd gear (for example... I tried it on a couple of laps at Buttonwillow) and it has enough torque to pull out of a tight cork-screw turn at 1500 rpms, and fly up to 8000 rpms with ease. Just some first hand driving experience for yah.
