Default Boost D16 or ZC?

i currently have a ZC in my 91 crx and i need some info and opinions on what most ppl would rather have a boosted ZC or a d16y8? i have heard from many different sources that zc's are junk and to go wit the d16y8... but i dont know? so what do you think? is the ZC worth a damn to build or should i build the y8? im looking for about 250-300hp. thanx

250-300 will be pretty much fully built on either motor. id say go with the y8 and boost that. i got a friend with a y8 pushing around 300- 350whp on 8lbs of boost.

I'd recommend the y8 due to it being newer and being easier to convert to obd1. It's also easier to get to that power level by adding a zex cam. It's also easier to get parts for. Conversely, the ZC would be easier to tune since it's just a single boost map you need. A ZC will be easier to find with lower miles, but you can find y8's with low milage too. Previous threads have shown that stock motors aren't reliable after 200whp w/o proper tuning.

Personally, I'd go with a Z6 head and a y7 or y8 block and a zex cam - since I already all 3.

Do the sohc the ZC is the bastard engine when it comes to part. Do the built sohc and i am pretty sure with some effort and some good cash flow you can get those numbers
