Default Hitting starter makes car start?

What does it mean is wrong when hitting the starter with a hammer makes the car start?

The starter has been replaced 3-4 times this year.

the brushes are shitty. when u hit it w/ hammer it desterbes the bruses enough to make contact and make the starter run.

as for 3-4 times get a new one not a remanufactured. or take the starter apart and replace the brushes. mine was doing that and i replaced the brushes and never had a problem since. only cost me $7 for the repair

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help...I am thinking something's not lining up right like the gears or whatever in the starter itself...Will check into the brushes though! Thanks...

Lmao, yeah I use the crow bar thingy that's really meant to change the tires if need be...but it seems to get in there just right...lol. I know, I am done with the mechanics, I am going to take it straight to the dealer this time. It's just that it's going to cost too much money right now to get that done... I'll have to keep in mind the broom handle though! Thanks! lol
