B18C1 oil pressure question
i just installed a digital oil pressure gauge on my GSR. I used the "Endyn" method for hooking it up to avoid some headaches down the road. anyway when i started the car for the first time after i hooked everything up (also the first time the car has been ran in 2 days) the gauge read about 60psi around 2,300 RPMs and after letting the engine run for a few minutes i reved it up to about 8k RPMs and the gauge quit reading after 99 PSI, I let off the gas and the oil pressure dropped back to about 60 PSI again....I know oil pressure shouldnt be that high at 8k RPMs so I'm wondering what the deal is.
I use 10w30 synthetic oil. when i tested everything the car was angled up on jackstands still (wanting to also check for leaks, there weren't any) could that have anything to do with a wierd reading since it was angled? or could it be that the engine wasnt warmed up very much and hadn't been ran in a few days? I used 1/4" copper line from the block to the sender. Also the oil level was a little more than a half a quart low so I'll try it again once I add some oil and let the engine heat up to normal temp.
I purchased the car not long ago and was told the engine had been completely rebuilt 5,000 miles ago with performance parts....could that have something to do with the higher pressure?

When your oil is cold you will show high oil pressure. something upwards of 80psi on cold start.
Whomever built your engine could have shimmed out your oil pump, what this does is give more top end pressure because it limits the closeing of your needle valve assembly inside the pump.
Let it warm up, and dont be too alarmed if you see upwards of 80+ on top. My oil pump is shimmed makeing that much on a fresh built engine.
