Default S2000 killer

I have MSD ignition, and skunk2 cams, springs, and retainers. All of these parts have a redline of at least 11,000 rpm. The primary reason cars have a redline is because they start to experience vavlve float and detonation afterwards. With these new parts can i safely up my redline to 9500 or so?

You forgot about the rods. When you rev an engine that high the rods start to bend and if they bend enough they can break or allow the pistons to go off course enough, so that they hit the cylinder walls.

Why do you want to rev the engine to the point where it is making less power and causing undue stress to it's components?

You won't make any power up that high, it's pointless.

He's right. The higher the lift the higher revs = More horsepower. Depends on the set-up you use. Definetly get the rods

The geometry of the H22a simply does not lend itself to high rpms. It is already an undersquare stroked motor from the factory. Due to its long stroke, the piston speeds and the resulting acceleration and deceleration of the pistons at high rpms are unsustainable. With the pistons accelerating and decelerating so rapidly, the rod ends tend to "egg". Even with upgraded rods, I would think that around 8600rpm would be about the limit for a semi-reliable bottom end...

And also, as others have pointed out - even your Crower cams are not going to make any power over that point anyway...

If you just want high rpms for the sake of having high rpms, then look into de-stroking the H22a motor to 2.0l with the crank from the f20b DOHC VTEC Accord SiR-T

I completely agree. I you are interested in turning higher RPMs for for power, destroke it. At least for reliabilities sake.

Speaking of the Skunk2 cams, does anybody know what RPM the peak power is at on those? I was thinking of getting the stage2 cams and wanted to know a little bit more about them before getting them. If anybody also has any dynosheets... please post here.

Thanks

The max I am going is gonna be around 9200 rpms with pistons, rods, valves, cams, springs, retainers, and a very well balanced motor. So I dont advise you to rev anymore than 8500 with your current mods.

destroke the motor if you want to rev that high.
stroke the motor and just rev to 8k

its hard to have the best of both worlds of torque and horsepower
