Default head unit problems :(

well last night i bought a apline cda 9851 from best buy. i tried installing it last night and am having problems.
the radio seems to not be getting any power. it doesnt do anything (i double checked the wires) and also and use a circuit tester to make sure the power and ground had a good connection.

the circuit tester reads good all the way up to the back on the radio. where the harness plugs in. but the fuse next to it shows no power.

any ideas? maybe a faulty radio?

anyone?

If both the the oem fuses are good, [acc. under dash fuse box and back up under hood fuse box] and you are getting power all the way to the Alpine plug, and no power at the fuse next to the plug, [10A constant power, yellow lead on Hu harness] then there is a problem with the HU.
That said, check the 7.5A fuse in the under hood fuse box, [back up], it would not surprise me if that fuse is blown, if it is, DO NOT replace with a bigger fuse.
With today's "high power" HUs, [18W RMS x 4 and 50W Max x 4] the internal amp should be wired like an amp, run a fused 10ga or 12ga power wire from the batt. to the back of the HU and connect the constant power, [yellow] to it, the SQ will be much improved. 94
