Amp problem...
Ok I have checked my power wire, ground wire, remote wire, and rca cables. My amp is gettin power but my subs aint. Is my amp fried? I have 2 12" alpine Type r subs with a alpine mrd m500 amp.

My Alpine MRD amp did the same thing to me. The amp is gettin complete power but wont kick it out to the subs, hell, when I hook up the subs while the amp is on the screen stops rewading out volts and starts reading out "CURR". I talked to a local shop, he thinks its fried.

That is what I am afraid of, I paid so much for that damn thing too. I aint had it long either. But is it possible to fix? and cheap?

Dude I dont know what multi meter is</TD></TR></TABLE> Try this, disconnect the subs, and with a batt., [a 9V will work well] touch the batt. term. to the subs speaker wire, [one wire to each term. of the batt.] even a new 1.5V AA AAA or C batt. will work.
This will not tell how good the subs are, but it will tell you, if they are connected and if they are connected "in phase" and what wire is the pos. and what wire is neg., what you are looking for, [and listening for] first is you need to hear the sub's "pop" each time you touch the wires to the batt., [how loud that "pop" is will depend on the batt. you use, what size and how "strong" a charge it has] the other thing to look for is what do the speaker cones do when they "pop", they should both move in the same direction, [out or in] together, if they pop out, then the pos. (+) batt. term. is touching the pos. (+) speaker lead, and the neg. (-) batt. term. is touching the neg. (-) speaker lead, if the sub's "pop" in, the batt. term. are rev., pos. to neg and neg. to pos., and at this point it makes no diff.
As I said above this is not an indication of the condition of the subs, only that they are connected and if a working amp is connected to them you should hear something, even if the subs are wired "out of phase", [one sub "pops" in and the other "pops" out, (out of phase)] you should still hear something.
That said, if the sub's "pop" and they are "in phase" but you still don't hear anything, it does not mean the amp is blown, there are other things that can be wrong.
The next thing I would check, [assuming subs are working] is programing of the amp, as you must know it is a little more involved then just turning a gain and x-over control ****, I have installed more then a few of them and I still need the instructions to make sure I get it right, do you have the owners guide, and have you read the "Operation Method" section, there are 7 pages of them, and a lot of "parameters" to adjust and store into the amps memory.
Do you know that it has a 1 year parts and labour warranty on it, its not a current model, [pre 2004] so warranty has run out, if you don't have an owners manual for it, go to http://www.alpine.com click on Tech Center then on Consumer Site in the lower left of the Tech Center Login window, then type in MRD-M500, [just like that] in the Quick Search box, then you can download the manual check pages 11 to 17.

Ok dude that is the most detailed answer i have ever gotten on this board, about anything. Thanks alot I am about to go work on them and see how your idea goes and then I will post up what is up when I am done. Thanks alot
If the amp is damaged it can be fixed, and the Alpine site does have the manual I am looking at it right now, did you fallow my instructions on how to get it? Unfortunately all I can do is give you the Alpine site link http://www.alpine.com it will not allow me to give you a direct link to the manual, make sure the when you type in the Quick Search box it is exactly like this MRD-M500.
