Default B20 alternator?????

i have a CRX with a built B20/ Type r head and my alternator is going bad. Everytime i turn my head lights on at night the car nearly turns off. I was wondering what alternater would work with my car?

A B20 alternator. 98+ CRV. Actually, probably non-VTEC B18 would fit too.

If your putting it into a CRX, then the plug wont fit cause the motor is OBD2 and your harness is OBD0 unless someone changed it out. So heres your options. You can one from a 90-91 teg (its a B series and will fit) or buy a D series one and put it on there. Thats what I did and I didnt have to dent my frame rail. Seems to be working great.

I thought alternator plugs were all the same.
I just put a B20 in and used my stock CRX Si harness for the whole thing.

Alternator plugs are not the same. 1988-1995 alternators use a round plug. And 1996+ alternators use a square plug. If you are using a stock SI harness, you need a 1988-1995 alternator. It doesn't matter which year you get. It doesn't matter whether the car is manual or automatic. And it does not matter whether the car is VTEC or not. They will all work. I myself have used a junkyard 1990 Integra LS alternator on a JDM ITR motor using a JDM P73 ECU. And it worked fine (until it died after a couple of years).
