Legend Calipers
WhooHoo just got these puppies and ready to install.
Just one question though, what is the reason for swapping the calipers from right to left and vice versa? BTW its a 96 Cordeezzy....

Ill document the whole process and make a post as soon as im finished.
Thanks for any replies

Just curious what year Accord is this going on to. I have heard about the Legend upgrade but have not looked into it yet.
I get soooo sick of my brakes fading on my 97 Accord its not even funny.

No mods..... im just wondering what the deal with this switching sides thing... From what ive read, you have to put the left caliper on the right side and the left caliper on the right side....therefore making hte bleednipple face down rather than up....can someone answer this question? I can see the reason why it cant be put on THE WAY GOD MADE IT!
0oo00o yeah forgot about your other question...Well basically its a direct colt on with the larger Rotors
the part list is as follows
94-95 Acura Legend GS dual piston calipers ( quite a bitch to find at the bone yards) w/ 25-28T Brackets
95-97 Accord v6 11. something rotors
SS brake lines if you choose
and yeah thats it unless you want to do a Rotor- over hub conversion

That does not make any sense to me. The only reason I would see that being a problem is the brake lines possibly not being long enough. I guess the best way to do it would be to put the right side on the right side and see if it works correctly. If not switch it.

Haha, thats a bit shiest since the brake component is a vital organ on the safety of a vehicle

Well you can test brakes without driving the car. I would highly recommend doing one of those methods before driving after doing any brake work.
Good luck with the project and thanks for the info, cant wait to see the finished product

Its a bolt on and the only things you need to change are the Calipers, Rotors, and Pads. I hear its a more than decent upgrade, more worthwhile than the worthless rear disc conversion. Also instead of using the dual piston calipers from teh Acura Legend, you can use the v6 single piston calipers from a 5th gen. This way you can still use the bigger rotor and not run into any trouble finding these RARE GS calipers.
OK i found out why from Accordinglydone.com
.....When you bleed your brakes, the bleeder valve has to be on top since air has properties or rising rather than falling. the problem with the Legend brakes is that they were designed to be mounted on the rear of the knuckle, meaning that is has the trailing edge...bleeder aiming up. Consequently, when you mount these brakes on an Accord ( Leading Edge), imagine the caliper pivoting about 90 degrees to the front of the car. This in turn aims the bleeder Valve downward and therefore makes bleeding the brakes nearly impossible. To remedy this problem, we flip sides and put L on R and R on L, therefore aiming the bleeders back up.
But there is also in issue with doing this.....the pistons are consequently displaced. Originally on the Legend, the piston that compresses first against the direction of the rotating rotor is smaller and is "trailed" by the larger piston. This was an intentional design because it causes a more even wear on the brake Pads. If the front Piston was bigger, that with the combination of hitting the rotor fist would cause faster wear on the pads...not significant wear though. This is what happens when these brakes are flipped and installed on the accords. Its not a big problem and wont cause any reliability issues but the wear would be noticable due time for a Pad change.
WERD... SO yes, this isnt enough justification for me not to do the swap so be on the lookout for the write-up soon to come!

if anyone needs 28t brackets i still have mine. i did legend calipers with v6 rotors, v6 pads, and v6 brackets.
on my 95 accord. didn't think the rotor over hub was worth it.

so how did u guys get the damn rotor off? i'm due for a rotor change as well and i'm not sure if i'll be doing it myself or if its too much of a headache (w/o power tools) to give it to a shop to do.

wouldnt that be a bitch to have the brakes hover in the right position when blleding the brakes? Sounds like a good plan but i hear that the brake wear isnt too significantly differenct from being mouted normally
^ i dont know how significant the break wear would be, just saying how some people get them to work how they were designed. More of just throwing out another option for you to consider before putting them on
I don't know if this is true or not but a friend of mine with an Integra Type R said that the NSX and 92 Prelude calipers are the same as the Legend calipers. I don't know if these ones would have the bleed screw in a different location, but it may be worth a shot to check into this.
I am planning on going to the junkyard here in the next few days to look into this, they just got a Prelude in there that has NSX calipers that my buddy is holding for me!
I will get back to everyone to let you know what I find out.
