Default front brakes (rotor removal) 94 ex accord

I'm trying to either turn my rotors or replace them but i can't seem to get them off. Someone told me i had to remove the whole steering knuckle and then using a shop press, press out the bearings. Is this correct?

you only have to press out the central hub if the hub is REALLY rusted in. usually, the hub comes out pretty easily with a short section of pipe that has a diameter big enough to hit the outer edge of the bearing WITHOUT hitting the inner bearing area. then just use caution and smack it with a hammer.

step by step instructions.

1. remove wheel

2. use 35mm socket and 1/2" drive pnumatic impact wrench to remove the center axle nut.

3. remove the 2 14mm bolts that hold the caliper/brake pad holder assembly to the knuckle. hang the assembly by the upper control arm with a wire coat hanger.

3.5 to replace the brake pads, remove the lower 12mm caliper guide pin, and swing the caliper up. pop out the old pads, and (if needed) compress the caliper. then pop the new pads into the clips, making sure you have silencer shims on the back of the pads. swing the caliper back into position, and reinstall the 12mm guide pin.

4. remove the cotter pin on the bottom nut that holds the steering knuckle to the lower control arm. remove 17mm castle nut. lift steering knuckle's ball joint shaft out of lower control arm (may be stuck. carefully hit the lower control arm with hammer WITHOUT hitting the threaded shaft. this should vibrate the ball joint loose. if this does not work, use ball joint tool, known as a "picklefork" to pry/separate the ball joint from the lower control arm)

5. remove the CV axle from the steering knuckle. (this may be stuck. use penetrating oil and hammer CAREFULLY!!!! do not hit splines or threads of axle!!!)

6. remove the 4 12mm (i belive that's the size. maybe 14mm) bolts that reside behind the steering knuckle. this should free the rotor/bearing assembly. if stuck, use previously stated methods.

7. remove 4 14mm bolts that hold the rotor to the hub.

to assemble, reverse the disassembly precedure.

DISCLAIMER: I have done front and rear brakes on CD and CB bodystyle Accords for several years, and several times over on my own CD7 Accord. I have come to know that EVERY job is slightly different, and may call for specialized tools, such as a hydraulic press, etc. this is a basic guide which I myself follow to the difficult brakes of the Honda Accord.

if it's rusted in like mines, u definitely need a press to do the job, if it's not rusted just use a slidehammer to try and pull it out. either way it's going to be a pain.

go rent a slide hammer, it makes it way easier. just unbolt the bolts on the backside that bolts the hub to the knuckle. then remove the axel nut. and attach the slide hammer to the lug studs. then start taking out your anger on the slide hammer, mine took about 7 blows. and it pops right out. then just unbolt the rotor from the hub.
