DOHC ZC or ls?
Ok so i know im doin a swap but ive been thinking and theres no **** out there for the DOHC ZC, its just a higher upgrade from my SOHC but then on the other hand, theres the much better 1.8 ls, but also more expensive so how much more am i lookin at here for the ls, and im asking opinions from anyone.
p.s. since id be gettin b series mounts do all b series engines mount in the same, so saying if i dont like the ls i could just drop in a b20 n.p ?
thanks alot

i would get the zc and spend the extra 1000 on other stuff, like a nicely geared tranny with a diff
its only like 5hp difference between the zc and the ls, otherwise if your heart is set on a b-series get a b20 more torque

These sorts of post have been made for at least the last 6-7 years on one Honda forum or another.

Do a DOHC ZC....but only if you get a ZC trans with it...You get 34 mpg and have a very quick and nimble car...plus its far cheaper than a B16 swap. The B16 averages 25 mpg and cost far more to complete..and I mean 3 times as much. THe B16 Y-1 is fun but 25 mpg and manditory 93 octane at todays prices sucks when the DOHC ZC I had got 34 mpg ans was almost as much fun and ran forever on 87 octain.

go 1.8 with b16 or gsr trans

The DOHC ZC feels nothing like stock unless you were dumb enough to use it with a DX or HF transmission. I've had one...they are NOTHING at all alike.

The zc feels nothing like its 108 hp @ 6000/100 lb-ft@5000 rpm (quoted from Sport Compact car) counterpart--the d16a6. According to the same source the Zc makes 129 hp @ 6800/106lb-ft@5700. Do the math. Whoever said that it feels like stock is a moron. Take it from people who have experience with the transition. Anyway, addressing your question, if you're on a super tight budget, go with the dohc zc. You won't be disappointed. If you have a little more cash, go ls--a far superior motor, I agree.
