changed timing belt, now have bad idle and code 7 what is wrong
i just pulled my b16 out of my rex to do the water pump and t-belt (also did clutch).
i THINK i did the timing belt right. i lined up the crand and cams and even rotated the crank two turns to check.
when i went to start the engine it started but sounded rough, almost like older cars that have long duration cams. anyhow, i let it go and the idle level out and i thought it was good to go. i backed it up about 20 feet and then it idled to bad i thought it was going to die so i just shut it off. i also have a code 7 (tps).
1.what could be wrong?
2.could a vaccum leak cause the tps code??
3.can i assume i have the cams timed right since it did idle fine for a short time?

use a timing gun to check your timing. but with the tps code make sure its connected all the way and the connections are clean. also a vaccum leak or a vaccum hose running to the wrong connection could more then definetly cause the problem. when i pulled my motor i hooked it up wrong and it idled at like 100rpms and felt like it was missing on all cylinders. checked the vaccum diagram under the hood switched it around and now all better!
your TPS may have hit on something, and you'd have to recalibrate it.
.5 volt closted throttle, and 4.5 volt WOT. measure voltage on middle wire.
That's what I had to do when i had a code 7.
but also check and make sure you dont have plugs switched or loose or somethin
