Default Comptech Ice box question

should I get the comptech short ram to the ice box for 329.89 or just the ice box with a drop in filter???

What are the advantages and disadvantages of both and I have no problem spending the 329.00 for both. (is it even worth it?)

Get just the Box with their Foam filter.

The short ram produced negligable results for me. I just keep it now for a slightly nicer look and cause resale is minimal. I did run it with the stock piping and again with their pipe for comparison. I noted a slight if any quicker throttle response as the biggest difference. The cost of the pipe is not worth it in my books.

IMHO of course

A.

I'll second that.

I 'd 4th that, (just icebox) if you only worry about performance, but if you're into the lowriding and show scene I would definitly get the polished intake.

I have both the short ram and icebox. An advantage of the polished aluminium intake is that it reflects heat well. The stock one doesn't, because it ain't polished. Nuff said.

I got the Comptech intake with my Icebox. I got a good deal, and I liked the way it looked. It's probably not worth the retail cost.

You don't need the short ram. Just the icebox.

So comptech is basically BS'ing when they say you have to use their intake pipe?

Would i have to use the pipe on my Si or will the icebox & filter setup work the same way as well?

I used a ITR intake hose, the Civic SI hose is too small and not the right length. If you are putting the setup in a 6th gen Civic, just get the Icebox for the 99-00 Civic SI and the ITR Drop in filter upgrade, then purchase a ITR intake tube. If you are still running OBD2, you will need to make a hole in the tube for the sensor.

In partial defence of Comptech: I emailed them and asked if I needed the pipe and they said No. Also, on their message boards they have said No on this issue.

Inconsistent? Yes.
