Default Loud pop in my suspension yesterday...

So i was driving home from work last night down this gravel road. i go around a corner going like 20mph and i hear this ridiculous pop from my front right wheel. i was like wtf was that. so i get home and look at it, and it looks fine, nothing looked broken or anything. so today when i'm driving to work i notice the car kind of wobbles when im driving. appears to be only wobbling on the right side, where the pop came from. my car has needed an alignment for some time now, but i don't think that has anything to do with the wobbling. anyone have any idea what the hell could have happened?

EDIT: i have a 92 gs-r with stock everything, no aftermarket suspension ****.

It sounds like it has something to do w/ the control arm, i would recommend removing the wheel and just examining it to see what it looks like.

well i jacked it up and looked in there, and got under the car and looked at it, and everything looked intact. i didn't take the wheel off though. i could probably do that this weekend.

It could be a binding swaybar endlink. The endlink gets a little rusty/gritty and it won't pivot smoothly or it'll just bind up until it pops.

Unbolt the LCA-side of the endlinks and check them for smoothness of rotation.

ok, it got a lot worse today. now it's making this loud thumping noise when it's moving. thump thump thump. speeds up as the car goes faster. and the wobble is still there. i looked at the sway bar and spring and everything looks intact. i was thinking wheel bearing but how the hell would the big pop noise have anything to do with the wheel bearing?

for what? it is clearly coming from the front, and the sound was definately from the front. what would checking the rear suspension accomplish?

if you're 100% sure it came from the front then whatever.. but it doesn't hurt to take the extra 10 mins to take the wheel off and have a look...

if you can move any parts with your bare hands, check bolts and how secure it is..

upper arms, lower arms, pins, bolts, joints...

Do you remember hitting any BIG rocks??

You could have possibly fucked up the belts in your tire.

Is the Wobble in your steering wheel, or is it a visual wobble-- at the wheel??

thats the thing, it was at a spot in the road where the rocks weren't. it was just the gravel colored dirt. and the wobble is in both the steering wheel, and the wheel itself. i haven't actually had someone else drive it and me look at it while it is moving, but its definately not going smooth. makes a smooth road feel like its real bumpy. the steering wheel shakes from side to side also, but not all the time, and low and high speeds

With the wheel on the ground try shaking it left and right and up and down... if you can move it loosely you may need to replace your outer tierod. The noise could be that you have a torn axel boot and it is finally running out of grease. That would fix the noise and the wobble

well, the CV boot on that side has like a .25" rip, and there is grease caked next to it. i was going to replace it but i also wanted to find out what the pop was, so i could replace that also. when i replace it, should i do both axles? or just the passenger side?

also, do you mean with my wheel OFF the ground? how would i move it if it was ON the ground?

well, that sounds like part of the problem.. your boot is torn and all the grease has leaked out...

replace both axles, check tie rods, ball joints, misc bolts and bushings....second gen tegs with original suspension parts are probably in need of some serious refreshening by this time.

just by buy a rebuilt axle, my axle got really Fuckerd up and mad a LOUD poping sound, Ususally you check axles by turning and decreasing load on them (in your case turn left), but it got soooo bad withing about an hour that I would make a horrible smashing sound just about every wheel rotation... Bought a rebuild kit, took it apart each ball bearing was soo fucked musta got a pebbel in the or something... and the spider itself was cracked in two parts.. So i ended up replacing the whole axle... hope this helps
