ok just recently my cel light came on so i ran the code and it says vtec system malfunction.... basically it will not allow vtec to kick in making it impossiable to rev past 5k of course i can reset the ecu but that wouldnt solve the problem only make it go away for a few days any help is much aprreciated i just am not shure where to begin to fix it.. thanks

 

my friend had a similar problem with his b16 crx. he just change the oil... haha.. i know that sounds stupid but when he change the oil VTEC works. i hope that helps. if not then you might check your vtec solenoid.

 

Check your oil level, check the screen on the back of the vtec soliniod, and finally just check to make the sure the wiring is all intack.

Vtec works off of oil pressure, if you dont have enough pressue you wont have vtec. Check what i mentioned first and then chime back.
