Ok, I have a '96 Civic DX HB and I am preparing to install GSR front and rear disk brakes from 97-up GSR.

I have the entire front brakes including upper control arms and rear brakes including trailing arm, e-brake, etc.

I am upgrading the MC to Civic Si. PV and BB is same as Civic Si so will be using the same.

Question that was not clarified on the other forums and some forums were too much misinformation and confusing.

1) Front shock forks, do I need to use the one from Integra or could I use my Civic DX?

2) Stainless brake lines, some say GSR front SS brake lines are too long, but use the GSR rear SS lines. Could I just use the '99-'00 Civic Si SS brake lines?

Yes you use your stock civic front forks. You should also use your stock upper control arms, just bolt the integra knuckle to your UCA. I used Integra SS front brake lines, and yes they are too long. In fact, the line was rubbing against my tire so I had to zip tie it out of the way. I had zip tied it when I first installed my brakes, but I had to put another zip tie on it to keep it from rubbing. I'm not sure if SI front brake lines would work. I don't think so, because I think I would have used them myself.

 

I am planning to use the upper control arms so it becomes top mount and not side mount. I tend to like the camber kits for the integra better than the civic (ball joint type).

92-95 civic and 94-01 have same uca and lca and swaybar if si or gsr.....as well as other suspension components...

 

this also includes camber kits

 

Just a question though. How does the 96 Dx have the same prop. valve as the Si. I thought, still think, that the Civic Si has no prop. valve, well it does, but I thought the ABS unit controlled the pressure to back and front breaks.

I have a friend who totaled his SI-T, and put everything on a 97 Ex. He is using the factory brake booster, and master cylinder, and factory 97 Ex prop. valve. The front locks up before the rear, in every situation so it's fine I guess.

I pulled a rear disc conversion from a ABS teg, and I also yanked what was thought to be a prop valve, but it doesn't function, or look like my factory one. Does it do the same?

Thanks for asking those questions, I was wondering the same. My local Autozone thinks my car is ghetto, because I'm ordering parts for every different Honda.. lol.

 

when i did my rear conversion the e-brake cables wern't long enough. don't know if you'll have the same problem with a hatch but i did with my coupe.

anyone else run into that problem?

Well I got the entire trailing arm, e-brake cables, etc from a GSR. Front LCA, UCA for a GSR.

Only thing I don't have is the front shock forks. I'll probably just get one from an Integra just to be safe.

Still no other replies regarding the SS brake lines.

 

I don't know anyone with that setup, well I do, but it's not on the car right now.

you need the 40/40 prop which is on anything w/ rear disc ie 92-95 si and ex, im thin the 90-91 si's also have the 40/40 and also the 90-01 tegs, and i dont thing your friends 97 has the 40/40, but he also didnt swap out the rear disc did he?

u can use the civic forks no problem, and just use the 96-00 non abs sslines if you gonna have no abs and im sure the 92-95 abs and the 99-00 abs should work....and like

Non ABS Civic, so I can use the 96-00 SS brake lines for a Civic? Will that match up to the GSR brakes for the front and rear? Just to confirm before I order.

 

The us em1 si did not have abs...
You want brake lines front and rear from the em1 si (thats 99-00). Abs or not doesnt matter, since theyre the same fittings for the em1 and integra (gsr isnt special...)

You dont need to change anything fork or control arm wise. Besides, Integra uca's are different, as stated. You WILL need to get an alignment after this.

integra and eg are the same
ek is all by itself

 

wow lots of mis info here all ek prop valves are the same chk the part numbers
the eg prop valves will not fit ek
the 94 integra uses a different prop valve than the late model ..i think 98+ which are both also different than ek

incorrect the 92-95 civic w/ front sway uses a different sway bar link mounting
than late model 98+ integra which uses a upper balljoint/lower bushed bolt style link

no, ek prop valves are not the same
the hatch and em1 are the same, thats it.

 

ok well if this is the case stand corrected, but for this threads purpose i was correct, being that he has a hb ....im going to chk on this later

 

they are all the same part number.
if you dont beleive me go look at http://www.slhondaparts.com
and compare part numbers for all 96-00 honda civics.
46210-S04-902 is the part number for the 96-00 non abs prop valve.

oh ok, didnt know that...but i bought a 2001 gsr lca's and swaybar and everything...but i didnt swap the sway bar cause my si has one
