Default Overbore... Displacment increase???

Hey, you may have read my other posts, but if you havent my motor blew up and im starting over. Question for anyone who knows. H22a1, for every mm oversize what kinda increase should i expect in liters? Also, for those firmiliar with the h22, what is the biggest overbore you recomend with a darton sleeve?

Thanks for your help

One other thing, what kinda pistons and rods do you recomend, and what is the highest comp. i should do on 93 oct.

What ever your GED told you. Metric or US CC's are metric 2000cc-122 CI 98 CI = 1600 cc. Just to screw up your day bore x bore x stroke x PI = disp. divided by 4 = per cylinder.

The most I would go is 90mm. That is what my motor is at now and you wouldn't believe the world of difference in torque before and after. I have heard 91mm makes the cylinder walls too thin but is still very possible. I would personally go back and step down to an 89 if i could just to re-assure me on strength. No problems as of yet though.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by DonF &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">bore x bore x stroke x PI = disp. divided by 4 = per cylinder.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Shouldn't it be?: .5 bore (mm) x .5 bore (mm) x 3.14159265 (Pi) x stroke (mm) x 4 (# of cylinders) x .001 (converts from cubic millimeters to cubic centimeters) = total engine displacement (cubic centimeters, cc)

To convert to CID: divide the metric cc displacement by 16.387064 CID/cc

Example for a bore of 87mm and a stroke of 90.7mm [H22A]:

.5(87mm) x .5(87mm) x 3.14159625 x 90.7mm = 539182.97521846875 cubic millimeters for just one cylinder

539182.97521846875 cubic millimeters x 4 = 2156731.90873875 cubic millimeters for all four cylinders in a H22A

Convert to cc's:
2156731.90873875 cubic millimeters x .001 = 2156.73190873875 cubic centimeters (cc)

Convert to CID (Cubic Inch Displacement):
2156.73190873875cc divided by 16.387064 CID/cc = 131.6CID (rounded to the nearest tenth)

That 16.387064 CID/cc conversion factor comes from 2.54cm/inch^3 = 2.54 x 2.54 x 2.54.

8.7cm x 8.7cm x 9.07cm x 3.1416 = 2156.7cc divide by 4 for single cylinder disp.
2.1567 x 61 = 131.5587 cubic inches
same answers, just a simpler formula.

OK. I see it now. There were a couple of simplifications I didn't see in my head.

~50cc per 1mm o/s, stock stroke

id go 89mm custom piston and stroke the motor with h23 crank and rods. ull be lookin at like a 2.5litre to 2.6 litre depending on how big u bore it......talk about some torque haha...that is my build for the winter....if u go 90 mm the walls get kinda thin....just something to think about 12:1 is pretty high and if u do that build ur lookin at 12:1-12.3 on pump gas

Bore x bore x3.14x stroke =A 4 cylinder motor x2=8cylinder.I'm sorry but it doesn't get any easier that that.
