im lookin at buying a 92 prelude the sticker in under the hood says it has 2.3 vtec anyone know good or bad, sorry new to honda im comeing over from the dsm world any info would be great thanks

 

well if it's stock 2.3 vtec doesn't exist. It will either be a 2.3 non vtec or the 2.2 vtec.

 

they didn't make a 2.3 L vtec for preludes......what sticker are you talking about also....pics?????they made a 2.3 L vtec for accords....idk if you can swap them over to ludes tho

you can swap them over. It's an H motor....Anyway, it's highly doubtful it's that engine.

 

Um.. If it's really a "Sticker" ( ) then I wouldn't trust it... Heh

What color is the Valve cover? What does the block say it is? H23A1, H22A1, H22A, H23A, F22A1... If it's a true Prelude motor then it should say one of the above.. Either USDM or JDM.. Otherwise if it is a swapped motor you would have to find out what is stampped on the block and then we could tell ya..

There are alot of combinations that could have it being an actual 2.3 VTec... Either a Euro Motor, Bored H22, or a H23 2.3L with a H22 2.2L Cly. Head..

So, to give a correct answer - more info is needed..

 

ill go back in the morning and get the code off it anyone know where they are stamped? it said 2.3 vtec on the cat sticker under the hood but reading thou the fourms i didnt belive that since everyone says there was not one so have more info in the morning thanks. if its the 2.3 non v is it still worth a damn i have a 300zx i was lookin at fixing up but like the lude better but with what id spend on it the 300 could be done
