Default vtec?

ok ok, I know that this is going to sound like such a noob question but, ok here it is: has anyone ever heard of a f22a1 with vtec? because it sounds like I do have vtec in my prelude. this is the second prelude that i have. The first one that I had, it had a h22 and this one is a f22a1, I have been researching and came up with not to many facts. if anyone wants to report me go ahead... i just want to know because i was just wounder becuase if it does have vtec. i might just keep the engine the way it is because it has vtec. and does anyone ever heard about making a honda engine have vtec? is it easy to do? thanks...

Nope , your f22a1 sohc isnt a vtec. I think an f22a in an accord might have it but not the base S model 92-96 prelude.

I know that it is a single overhead cam without vtec but is it possible that maybe the previous own did it or something like that?

bingo, also you motor could have secondary runners, some F series motors came with IABS, i think the f22a6 had secondary runners, someone could have swapped on a intake mani on to you stock motor, or even did a whole head transplant.

anything is possible, but in the relm of this subject i would just settle that your car does not have vtec.

my car has an f22 in it, and i have vtec, but i put a vtec head on it, and it clearly sys VTEC on the valve cover.

the link you provided is a head swaping link, and is the equivelent of you having a sohc vtec head on there. it is possible to hav a sohc with vtec, but the f22a1 comes stock with a sohc non vtec motor. the only way you would have vtec is if someone swapped on a sohc vtec head from an accord.

i think that they did do that...i dunno though? would someone go though all that just to have vtec in a f22a1? i mean if some one were to do that, who much gain would it be? what like 4 hp?
