When I put the gear in first, I get this metal on metal vibrating soung, and if I tap down on the shifter, makes a noise as well, but only in first. all the other gears are smooth and make no noise. Is it clutch chatter? Is it a bearing problem? Is the gear grinding? Please need help.

no, it's a stock clutch. I just swapped in the motor. I didn't hear it or feel it in the car we pulled the motor out of

The flywheel is the same. If it was something like the clutch or flywheel, wouldn't it affect all the gears, and not just first. If I just let the car roll in first without giving it gas, it squeaks.

either your 1st gear, or a bearing. i had this problem with 4th gear, and a tranny shop said it was a 4th gear bearing. they replaced it and now the noise is gone. does your tranny have a hard time shifting into/out of 1st?

I wouldn't say I have a hard time going into first, but it's a little stiffer than the other gears, and when I put it into first it squeaks.
