water cooled turbos....not running the coolant lines bad?
I'm not running them on mine. No problems here. Just let her cool down after running it hard and you'll be fine.
cool cause im getting a gt2871r and i do NOT need two more lines running somewhere lol . i wasnt sure if people ran them or not.
I would just run them. After spending that kind of money on a gt turbo I think it is kind of stupid (not calling you stupid) not to run the coolant lines. I know Garrett put them there for I reason. I know I am going to run mine.
I just read a thread in this forum about somebodys GT having bearing failure within 14000miles because he did not run the coolant lines. Just some food for thought.

they're there for a reason. the gt lineup needs to be oil and watercooled to accomodate a long life for the bearings. its so simple to run it with the lines...just do it
If you have a failure dont expect the manufacture to cover it
Like someone else said. They are there for a reason. Take advantage of the water cavities.

I have a wrx td04l-13t turbo so its not a big deal with my turbo....not ball bearing or anything.

easiest way is to take the small lines running to the IACV, FITV, or the throttle body heat (on some cars) and loop them to the turbo after the sensor, then back to the return they normally go to.

If you had a different turbo, then you could maybe try skipping the water lines. The dual ball-bearing turbos just use a small amount of oil to lubricate the bearings, unlike a journal bearing turbo that uses a lot of oil to float the bearings. I had to put a restrictor with a tiny hole in the oil line to both of mt GT ball bearing turbos to keep the seals from leaking, so oil is not majorly cooling the center section in a BB turbo, just water. I ran the water from my heater lines for my turbo.

Just food for thought:
My friend Matt just turboed his Rio, and it pretty much matches mine. He decided not to run water lines, and I have them. We compared the two, and his oil temperature gets 25° hotter than mine.

hella_jdm, run the water lines, you have put a lot into your setup and the last thing you need is kill a turbo like that, i once decided to not run the water lines and found myself rebuilding the turbo less then a year later...you can set up up so that it looks clean, i wouldn't trip about the extra lines...on the flip side i have seen people plug the coolant holes and mob like that and not have any problems...i'd run them though
mark run the lines, ur bay is already cluttered like a mother ******, whats 2 more lines to that fuckup mess
I know of some drag cars that do not run them, but if the car sees any street I would run them.
I run them on my car as well.

Here's pics of mine, they are the two small black lines that go to the left of the manifold. I ran them around to T's in my heater lines.
