Default p75 chipped ECU question

Hi i have a 94 LS with p75 Chipped ECU, its has either a JUN or MUGEN chip, i did not chip it myself so i do not know what settings its for. I just know it chipps redline . do you think my car would run better with a stock ECU? my motor is stock, juss with dc headers, intake, straight pipe. Do u think the ecu would be change fuel settings and advance timing and making it run rich? i just want my redline to come back cuz im ****** scared of over-reving.... plz HELP

LS motors are not built for high revs...don't do it if your motor is all stock..you might even loose power because of the chip. and if you bought one of the ones off ebay that are like 30 bucks.....good luck its a gamble with those. but for now, do not chip your ecu!

well, why dont you ask your chipper what has been done to the maps?
Jun nor mugen make non vtec programs...
So if you did buy one of those generic chips; it prolly runs rich as **** with no rev limit and stock timing.

dude.....JUN NOR MUGEN MAKE NON VTEC PROGRAMS.
its just a technicality, they just name it jun/mugen/j's/ etc. for coolness purposes.

Exactly. It's a marketing ploy. They just burn a chip, label it "spoon, jdm, mugen, jun, etc" to make it more appealing.

Anyways, what you can do is buy a stock ECU. Run it on your car, and see if there's any difference. If the performance is significantly lower, then i guess you could stick with the "mugen jun jdm" ecu.

better yet, get somebody to make you a chip of the stock P75 program and put that in. you're only talking $25 or so, and you'll be able to switch programs somewhat quickly even without a ZIF plug. more than likely, you beat stock GSR or B16-powered cars with crappy drivers or you were racing them and they weren't racing you. people say all the time that they beat my 240SR, but fact is i was coming off the stoplight shifting at 3000 or 3500rpm where i'm just getting to full boost, just hanging out, and they managed to get slightly ahead. if i shift at 4000rpm they get beaten, and if i shift at 7500rpm they just disappear in my dust.

i can garauntee you that if you take your car to a dyno with that chip and a stock one that jun mugen jdm chip is going to suck. besides it's wasting fuel all over the place which is bad for power, no matter what your premonition. i would NEVER put a chip in my ECU that i didn't personally tune to watch every step of the tuning by a real shop on a real dyno. i like my motors and i don't want them to blow up or burn oil or water or something.

okay well then your friends aren't as good drivers as you are. all i can say is that with your mods there is no way a chip is giving you any real power. the stock ECU is tuned pretty well for basic mods, and only really needs any changing when you add cams, intake manifold, or something else that greatly alters the shape of the torque curve.
