Forgot to put the dowls in the head !!!!

Default Forgot to put the dowls in the head !!!!

Yes! im a dumbass... and i forgot to put the dowls in the head after changing the head gasket ... but i have head studs will my head gasket be fine or for that matter will my motor be fine also ?

you could have had gasket shift before you torqued it..there could be some problems if the gasket is hanging into the cylinder...If your lucky it was centered when you torqued the head causing no problems.. .

tell me your kidding.....

If I were you I would take the head off and put the dowls in......

otherwise if the head gasket is off and you get the oil and water to mix while driving and start to over heat the engine and the bearings start to spin around the crank before its to late to notice......

you'll be to lazy to take the engine out to rebuild it....

Im not trying to be a dick......just letting you know you should fix it before anything happens....that is why you posted your topic int he first place right?

i was joking about the lazy part iv been busy all weekend ... it was the end of the day on a sunday im doing it tonight i only drove the car less then 5 miles to see if anything was wrong ... didnt take it higher then 4k.... wouldnt the headstuds help hold the gasket in ???

It would to an extent, but it can still move aobut 1/8th of an inch or so, just enough to cuase a problem.....Im glad to see that your going to fix it.....let us know what you find.

yes your gaskit will be held down.

Thats not the issue, the issue is haing the gasket perfectly centered between the head/block so that all passages line up and fluids dont mix with each other and case more problems.
