have a tranny but it is not stamped or anything. trying to figure out what tranny it is and was told to take it apart and count the teeth on the gears. does anyone know how many there should be on what gears or w/e to know what type it is?! any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Look at the many tables availible for gear ratios in different transmissions. Then count the teeth on the one you have to determine the ratios. After that, 1+1=2.

 

you can put the car on gear, turn the motor and count spins on the diff.
after that is simple math as drd sayd.
