Default Question regarding using a OBD1 ECU in a 2000 EM1.

So I understand (correct me if I am wrong), that one can by a OBD1 ecu and jumper harness, along with a chip and gain some good power.

What about emissions?

My state (NC), next year will have emissions testing where they look for any CEL's, and readiness codes.

Will swapping to the older ECU give me problems? Or can I just swap ECUs when test time comes around?

Any good suggestions?

I am reading the ECU thread as I type this in another window, so bear with me on the terminology.

TIA

Chris

Get a Chipped p28 and A conversion harness. and when test time comes around. just plug in your Stock ECU and pray u have no CEL.

I dont see why you'd get a CEL by going back to OBDII at emissions time. So long as your emissions components are working properly (O2's still good, mainly).
